A recent filing published by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has revealed the design and technical specifications of the new Luxeed RX coupe-style crossover. The premium model was jointly developed by technology giant Huawei and automaker Chery as part of their HIMA alliance project.
The vehicle is positioned as a luxury FUV (Fashion Utility Vehicle) and measures 5,020 mm in length, 2,007 mm in width and 1,585 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm.
Its low-slung profile, slim L-shaped headlights and aggressive rear diffuser immediately drew comparisons with the Italian Ferrari Purosangue among industry observers.
However, the main talking point surrounding the vehicle has been a controversy sparked by comments made during its presentation.
Luxeed executive Zhao Changjiang told journalists that the vehicle’s design involved a “former Ferrari chief designer,” while chassis tuning was reportedly carried out with the assistance of specialists who had previously worked with BMW and Aston Martin.
The statement prompted a swift response from Ferrari’s head of public relations in China, Ingrid Sun. In comments posted on social media, she publicly challenged the claim and called on Luxeed representatives to identify the designer in question, suggesting that consumers could be misled if the statement could not be substantiated.
According to media reports, Sun also pointed out that Ferrari’s chief design position has remained unchanged for more than a decade. The post was later removed, but the discussion had already gained significant attention online.
From a technical standpoint, the Luxeed RX is equipped with four LiDAR sensors that support its advanced driver-assistance system. The vehicle also uses body components produced with an advanced electromagnetic thermoforming process.
The powertrain lineup includes a rear-wheel-drive version producing 277 kW (372 hp), as well as an all-wheel-drive variant featuring an additional 160 kW front motor. Combined output reaches 437 kW (587 hp).
The Luxeed RX is expected to arrive in dealerships in the autumn of 2026.
The launch is considered particularly important for the brand, as Luxeed has experienced a steady decline in monthly sales since December of last year.
