Chinese automotive giant BYD has opened pre-orders for its new large sedan, the Seal 08, in its domestic market. The model belongs to the company’s Ocean lineup and is currently available through a so-called “blind ordering” process via BYD’s official mobile app.
At this stage, the manufacturer has not disclosed official pricing details. The approach allows the company to better gauge market demand and plan production volumes ahead of the model’s launch. BYD has previously faced delivery delays with the Great Tang after initial demand exceeded expectations.
According to preliminary estimates, the starting price of the new model in China will be around 250,000 yuan (approximately 36,895 USD).
The sedan measures 5,150 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width and 1,505 mm in height, while the wheelbase extends to 3,030 mm. The dimensions are expected to provide generous rear-passenger space.
The vehicle is based on BYD’s latest Ocean Aesthetics 2.0 design language and will be available in six exterior colors, including an Obsidian Black launch color.
Inside, the cabin features a large central touchscreen, a fully digital instrument cluster and a column-mounted gear selector designed to free up additional interior space.
The technical lineup is divided into several powertrain configurations.
