Hyundai bets on software — Pleos Connect as a new phase

Hyundai is gradually changing the logic of car development itself. A new step in this direction is the Pleos Connect multimedia system, which should become not just a display, but a full digital platform.

If earlier a car was perceived as a set of mechanical parts with additional electronics, now the situation is changing. Software comes to the forefront. It determines how a driver interacts with a car every day.

Pleos Connect is an attempt to combine all key functions in one system. Handling, multimedia, updates – all need to work as a whole. Moreover, with the possibility of constant development.

Separately, it is worth mentioning over-the-air updates. This function has already become the standard for some manufacturers, but to this day is not implemented at a high level everywhere. Hyundai wants to close this gap.

An important point is the user interface. Here, the competition is not only between automakers, but also with technology companies. People are used to smooth and responsive interfaces on smartphones and expect the same from a car.

Pleos Connect could become the basis for further ecosystem development. Integration with mobile phones, cloud services and additional functions – all of this does not look like something experimental.

As a result, the car transforms into a platform that develops over time. And it changes not only the product, but the business model itself.
