At the Beijing Auto Show 2026, BYD showed a major change in strategy regarding the development of the Fang Cheng Bao subbrand. If earlier the brand was associated strictly with off-road and utility models, now the maker’s bet is on widening the lineup through passenger vehicles and high-performance EVs. It means an attempt to enter a more competitive and technologically demanding segment.
The key premiere was the EV supercar Formula X. It is a two-door model with an extreme design in which aerodynamic elements dominate: huge intakes, an active spoiler and an advanced diffuser. The body is made using carbon, which lowers mass and increases structural stiffness.
The powertrain includes three electric motors with a combined 1000 hp. This configuration not only provides high acceleration potential, but also precise torque distribution between the axles. According to preliminary data, the car is oriented toward track characteristics, but at the same time retains the possibility of use on public roads.
It’s important that the concept is more than 80% ready for serial production. This indicates that the model is not purely for demonstration — the company is seriously considering releasing it on the market.
Apart from the supercar, Fang Cheng Bao showed several sedans from the new S lineup. These cars will become the basis of the brand’s future model lineup. They will get modern BYD battery technologies, upgraded energy management and fast-charging support.
