Audi approves electric TT successor: A compact EV sports car with 400+ HP, mid-engine weight distribution, and a modern take on the iconic 1998 silhouette.

After several years of uncertainty, Audi’s management has officially approved the development of a compact electric sports car that will occupy the niche once held by the legendary TT.
Unlike the brand’s larger electric crossovers, the new model will focus on low weight and precise handling. Engineers plan to use an innovative battery layout positioned behind the seats to replicate mid-engine weight distribution and preserve a familiar, driver-focused feel.
The technical foundation will be borrowed from the Volkswagen Group’s upcoming EV platforms, allowing for both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations with outputs exceeding 400 horsepower.

Designers promise a modern reinterpretation of the TT’s iconic silhouette, enhanced with advanced digital solutions and an interior finished with eco-friendly materials made from recycled ocean plastics.
This project represents an important step in Audi’s electrification strategy toward 2030. The new sports car is intended to prove that the transition to electric power does not mean abandoning vivid, emotional vehicles—cars that still deliver pure driving pleasure on winding roads.
